MY ROTARACT STORY - LISA MARIA

MY ROTARACT STORY
My journey in Rotaract began in 2017 right after completing high school. Our club, The Rotaract Club of Kitengela was still in formation at the time. When I joined, I was fascinated by the devotion, hospitality and unity that was in the Rotaract family. I wanted to be part of it.
A month after I joined, I was voted in as the incoming Fundraising director. I was then to the youngest director in the entire country.
In the beginning, it was quite a challenge. Being a 17-year-old director, in charge of university graduates seems difficult right? My club members, however, are amazing and they walked with me every step of the way.
We were then chartered in March 2018. We had a Maasai themed charter event. Where we danced and celebrated the birth of the newest and most amazing club, The Rotaract club of Kitengela.
Later that year, we were involved in various projects and events including The Emoji Party, the first of its kind. I happened to be in the organizing committee and the event was a great success. It was the best international service event in the district.
My favorite and most memorable Rotaract experience were DCA 2019, Mombasa. It was amazing and so much fun. I met amazing people and made some of my closest friends during that week. I learnt so much about Ethiopia and how Rotaract in Ethiopia. I wish we could rewind time so we could go back to DCA even just for a day.
I am currently the PR director of the Rotaract club of Kitengela and The Co-chair of the Rotaract Kenya Fashion Show. All this at the age of 19. What is Rotaract to me? Rotaract is home, it is family, it is where I want to be. This is my Rotaract story.

Lisa Maria Munga,
PR Director,
The Rotaract club of Kitengela.
