Going through my Rotaract Journey story will not only inspire you but also attract you to join in. One Friday evening March 2013, my friend Freddie invited me to a children home visit, which to me was “yes nimepata form ya weekend”. At the home, we cooked for the kids, washed their clothes, cleaned their premises, cleared the compound and finally played with the kids. At the end, the question was ‘How did you find it?’ I still had to find out more about this club and with my curiosity followed a series of more home visits, fun and most important service to humanity. I have had my crazy, funny, interesting moments all along but one word to describe them, “unforgettable”. Being part of the Rotaract family not only gives me satisfaction but also a sense of belonging in life. This is my other family where I share the little I have with the less fortunate and help put a smile to them.

Community Service with RAC Thika

Have come to learn a lot about people with special needs and this is through The Annual Rotary Sunshine Rally day where we meet and interact with them. Being part of the organizing committee there is a lot to work for to make the day successful and fun for them. Being concerned about their lives keeps me to mind for their needs.
I have also built my networks, created good friendship and more so personal growth and development. Rotaract has moulded me to be whom I am today. I was not much talkative but today I am, we can talk and crack jokes, all this through Rotaract. The leadership in Rotaract is one of a kind, because no one pays you a salary, you make mistakes and learn from them and at the end you become a good leader. I call this “CEO in training”.

Thanks to members of Rotaract club of Thika for allowing me, serve you as a Vice President, Professional Development Director and now as President.  RC Thika, Thika West, Nairobi Thika Road, Sunshine rally and all other clubs for the support you give. This is not the end, am growing and soon transitioning to Rotary and continue serving the community as it all inspires me. My Parting short, ‘When you are optimistic with positive image you ignite your passion and greatness. You find yourself among a circle of friends who are passionate about what they do.’ Yes, that is what Rotary and Rotaract is about.
