My Rotaract Journey - DRR Augustine Mwombeki

Augustine Mwombeki

The main and primary aim I joined Rotary was to gain the cool friends, and have many outings as a secondary school student by then in 2005 in form 2 back in Uganda, I joined a year after the Interact club was chartered in our school, after the whole year of observing the kind of members who joined interact, the goals and fun activities, I spent my next 5 years as an Interactor until after I finished my form six then I ought to transition to Rotaract at the campus.
My story should begin here, I joined the Catholic university and I knew such a big university must exist a Rotaract club, It was my duty to transition to Rotaract,  I recruited myself to the club, I became the treasurer elect, and the rest can be seen of what I have achieved and become as the passionate Rotaractor.
Rotaract is more than community service and professional development to the community, but it is a loving and caring family, the love portrayed inside is what is shared outside to serve the less fortunate without reserving anything. being a Tanzanian living in Kenya trying to establish friends I can trust and share my troubles with them, Rotaractors  and Rotarians were there for me always in making merriest and offering and helping hand without a question,  Everyone does care and trust each fellow Rotaractor and want to see them grow and develop. This is the main reason am always involved in Rotaract and I bring the best of myself to make the family amazing and strong.
My best Rotaract moments, they're numerous, I don't think I have better the latter than the former, all were amazing at serving different significant roles and satisfaction. The community service in Kibela, Inua Mimi children's home., The hustle to get to kibela with the phobia I had later I became a frequent visitor, My year as the president wouldn't have been successful without my Vice president by then Miss Betty Amutabi, we did go through a lot as club leader to be nominated as the best improved club during the DCA district awards, back in CUEA, In 2016 I moved back to Tanzania I joined a club which had stopped to exist, with the few members we were in less than 3 months Rotaract club of Alpha was the club that had the best of everything, from the PR, community service Projects, fun fellowship and International relations, I played a major role to see the club achieve everything in less than 3 months, I got to be appointed as the district treasurer, then nominated as the DRRN that's for RID 9211 Uganda and Tanzania,
Installed as the DRR to govern over 134 clubs in a district, it was the highlight of my life, the touching moment was when my parents travelled to Uganda to witness my installation. It was unexpected surprise they made for me.

It's always hard to explain or theoretically tell people why they should join Rotaract, most of the times I let people see what I do as a Rotaractor and I invite them to be part of it.
As for the existing Rotaractor, I always say "Rotaract/Rotary is like a book, if u do not travell to attend other Rotaract activities beyond your club, is like reading one page of Rotaract"
Go out there make friends, weigh yourself how much you give to the community comparing to others, and how much people do care and treasure a fellow Rotaractor, I do receive warmly welcoming gesture to the countries I travel when I meet Rotaractors, all places are always amazing the love I get can make you drop a tear of Joy, all that in the name of Rotaract.
I have to live my life as the leader and a mirror to my community so everyone who looks at me can be inspired to be like me and better than me, only then my goal as the Inspirational leader Will be achieved, I hope you get inspired by my super summary of my Rotaract Journey.

Cheers to Rotary and Rotaract world over.
Bless!
